Influence of Stray Current on Fastening System Components in Urban Railway Tracks

Urban railway tracks are the primary modes of transportation in many cities worldwide. Track vehicles mostly use DC from overhead lines, and rails used as return conductors. Because it is challenging to fully insulate rail ensure high rail-to-ground resistance, current leaks lower part track. This referred stray current. To determine detrimental effects on fastening system components, we performed a laboratory simulation four real-scale samples entire with all components. The difference among these was type used. Tests were under dry condition at different water levels. After testing, visually inspected. Under conditions, corrosion occurred elements contact concrete, immersed leaked components directly into water, causing harmful local deterioration. characteristics systems defined satisfy other parameters, but not prevent currents resistance. aim this study demonstrate prove importance providing adequate drainage track using that insulated does allow leak rail.
